I’m from Brazil.
I bought a camera YI 360, but it’s not broadcasting live. What may be happening, can you help me?

It usually connects to the phone, but when it comes to live streaming, it is giving error.

Thank you.

Thanks Mike. The two spheres are the unstitched format. You’ll need to stitch the video using Yi 360 Studio. https://drive.google.com/open?id=14KXCnZrbyBmDvMZhOUegHNp99k9rCSDH See the process and the link in the description: https://360rumors.com/nab-show-2017-yi-announces-57k-360/#tutorial I hope that helps!

I have the camera an like it but NOWHERE can I find out how to take the raw 5.7 footage, and simply convert it into something Premiere (Or AfterEffects, or whatever) can understand. The Yi only puts out two spheres at 5.7, really the only reason to by it in my case. How do you take it from 5.7 raw into something usable? I am well versed in editing and such, but this step eludes me.

Enough to say that you cant use it for live streaming in any other resolution because it’s THAT bad. I have the samsung gear 360 and that works perfectly in every aspect but I was after better video quality. Can anyone tell me if the yi 360 live streams without issues because that’s what I want it for. And to be able to charge it while live streaming because I live stream for hours? I had a insta360 but the tripod thread was next to the charging port so you couldn’t have a tripod and charge it…very silly.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I just saw this.

There is an external mic. You need a special adapter from Yi (not GoPro). It does work. i’ve tried it.

Hmm i’m able to upload the yi 360 vr videos to youtube and they look 360. Did you wait an hour or so to allow youtube to convert?

App can stitch but in-app stitching sucks.

terrible stitching? hmm i found the stitching to be quite good. see my sample skiing video. stabilization is also quite good. also see my sample skiing video.

True, it is not an action camera unless you’re willing to risk damaging the camera.

dynamic range, well it can shoot backlit scenes in sunny conditions, so i would say it is ok.

i get much longer than 25 mins, close to the 70. I use sandisk extreme pro micro sd.

I’ve been using this camera for over 6 months now and if I could I would return it. There is a lot to like about it, but much more to hate. Some of the “features” are outright lies. No new firmware in several months. No support in the forums. No support on FB. Looks like it’s abandoned.

The PC software is a nightmare. Simple to use, but the settings can only be changed in the stitching section. So say you want to stabilize a video. You import the file stitched in-camera. Apply the stabilization file. Video is saved. The default is low quality – with no way to change it. I figured out that I needed to load a video NOT stitched in-camera in the software, change the settings in the stitch section, then stitch. Those settings then become the default for all areas of the software – until you quit. Then it all defaults to low quality again. The editing part of the program? Simple – but it also strips out all 360 metadata – so the video can be uploaded, but is not recognized as 360.

The manual has many mistakes. One biggie is stating that the app can stitch – it can’t.

Stabilization: You have to download two files to your PC (Mac not supported) and apply the stabilization file. This usually results in a TERRIBLE video file, especially at the seam. It usually looks like one of those dreamy-drug induced sessions from the movies. There is NO real stabilization.

Tripod screw: It’s in a plastic plate that’s screwed on to the camera base with four teeny jeweler’s sized screws with a sticker slapped over it. I have seen dozens of posts of the camera falling off mounts and tripods, but the tripod screw is left behind. Forget it as an action camera or ANY rough use.

ZERO addons. No lens covers, cases, housing – nothing. Forget taking it in the water or to a sandy location.

Video quality. In EVEN light it’s great. Mixed light, the whites are blown-out and the darks are black. Low light? Terrible. There’s so little dynamic range it’s laughable.

Every time I use it I find something else to hate. Did I mention that you can’t get extra batteries and that battery life is abysmal? Average is closer to 25 minutes – not the advertised 70. Or that it gets so hot after 10 minutes of use you’ll be surprised it does not melt? Or that the battery has to be in the camera to use it, even if you use external power? Or that external mic support is a “feature” but in fact does not exist – unless you buy a GoPro adapter, and then it only works in some cameras?

If you EVER contact support, all you’ll be told is to “update the firmware” – even though there is no new update available.

I am running beta firmware 1.1.56 and streaming works although not sure if 4K is working as I only got a YT stream at 720p but could be because my YT channel has the ThetaS codec on my PC and that is limited to 720p.
